I am from a forgotten city in Europe,
a plane to the USA, with a passport in my bag
I am from a Romanian Family-but they are from my past.
I am from mints, candy, and cake galore - filling my mouth with sweetness
along with flips, turns, jumps, and spins - from my dance classes and gymnastics
I am from my loving, caring, fun, kitten named Athena and the love I give my bird and fish
I am from, unload the dishwasher and do the litter box I both hear everyday - those words my mom says,
I truly regret
I am from my grandmother's sewing machine and knitting needles
to my Oma's crafts and projects
I am from a long name - with 58 letters
to a dark unpleasant room - with crying babies and whining children
to the apartment I shared in Romania, with 9 other family members
I am from the memories of the stories when my pop-pop fought in the war
to my letters from my cousin who is now in the Navy
along with family gatherings - speaking in German or Dutch
I am from my church - filled with care and prayers
and sometimes my church that is in Romanian
with gatherings of friends from Romania - to my cousins and sisters fighting
I am from memories of the years we went to California and Florida
and the time we went to Maine
I am also from the Poconos - where our vacation house lies
I am from my perfume, to all my rings, necklaces, bracelets, and
earrings, and all my clothes I gratefully own
along with my braces that are always hurting or giving me cuts
I am from my friends, Elita, Rachel, Allison, Caitlyn, and
Hannah and Hayden and, Matti and Ryan
Along with all my other friends and classmates
I am from my books - Babysitters Club and Harry Potter
Along with my mom's artwork and paintings
including the movies that my family enjoys
That is where I am from
