My Adoption Experience
by Taylor Age 8, April 23 2006
I was adopted.  It's okay to be.  In fact, a lot of children are adopted even though it may not seem that way.  My name is Taylor, and I have friends who think it's cool that I'm adopted.  If you're reading this and you're adopted, don't think your birth mother didn't want you.  She probably couldn't take care of you.  My birth mom couldn't.  My brother was adopted, too.  His birth parents couldn't take care of him either.  Kids may seem sad about being adopted.  Just talk to your adoptive parents.  It will make you feel a lot better.  Trust me, it will.  I talk to my mom a lot.  If you're a boy, it might help more to talk to your dad.  It helps to talk to a parent, though.  I know that.

If you don't look like your family, don't worry.  I don't look like my family, but I don't care.  I just have darker skin, that's all.  Not that bad.  Just like a brown dog in a group of yellow dogs.  That's just the way it is.  No one's going to make fun of you.  Remember, if you're adopted or not, your parents love you.
