Jerome's mom/dad always told him that he was adopted and he could be proud that he had two families, his birth family and his adoptive family. He now wanted to include all of them in his project. His mother suggested an idea she had just read about in a book called From Real Parents, Real Children: Parenting the Adopted Child by Holly van Gulden and Lisa Bartels-Rabb.
Here's how Jerome did his project: Using houses instead of trees to show the connections among family members, not only makes families easier to understand, but also shows lots of other family members, such as parents, not living at home, step family members or a foster family.
