Were
you adopted from China? Emma was. In Grandmother's kitchen,
Emma and her big brother Sam are making cookies. They decorate
them to look like the people in their family. Emma's cookie
is the only one with dark raisin eyes and black licorice hair.
Looking different makes Emma feel sad. So Grandma invites
Emma to listen to Emma's adoption story again. They cuddle
up in a comfy old chair with Emma's toy panda, which came
with her all the way from China. They look at Emma's life
story book while Grandma tells about Emma's welcome into the
family. Grandma says, "It's not how we look that makes us
a family.... It's how we love each other."
